Dan LeFevour could be playing for the Carolina Panthers next season, if you believe Mel Kiper Jr.'s latest NFL mock draft.
Kiper, ESPN's draft guru, has the Panthers selecting LeFevour, Central Michigan's record-breaking quarterback, in the third round. Kiper, however, did admit LeFevour might not be available, saying he could go a round earlier.
"I think he could maybe be a starting quarterback in the NFL in a two- or three-year period,"
Kiper said during a conference call this week.
"Nobody studies film more than this kid at the quarterback position ... loves the game, tough kid. He did a good job over that four-year period as a starter."
Kiper mentioned that LeFevour's size -- 6-feet-3 and 228 pounds -- is comparable to what Chad Pennington was when he joined the NFL after playing at Marshall.
"He's not as accurate as Pennington, but he's more athletic and has a slightly stronger arm than Chad had,"
Kiper said.
